Summary

My dear Miss Bridgerton。 We have been corresponding now for quite some time, and although we have never formally met, I feel as if I know you。 Forgive me if I am too bold, but I am writing to invite you to visit me here at Romney Hall。 It is my hope that after a suitable period of time, we might decide that we will suit, and you will consent to be my wife'。 Sir Phillip knew from his correspondence with his dead wife's distant cousin that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely。 Except she wasn't。 The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quie, all he wanted to do was kiss her。 Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinkingand wondering and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match。 Except he wasn't。 Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was rough and rugged。 But when he smiled and when he kissed herthe rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

Not as good as the first 4 in the series and a shame as Elouise is a great feisty character in the Netflix tv series and in the other books - I’m not sure sir Phillip his evil twins and the lure of living in the country would really entice our plucky heroine so abit of a let down on that score 。 However , steamy towards the end but not as engrossing charming and not as much as a page Turner as others so high hopes for no 6 and Francescas story 。

Uh, not perfect, but I enjoyed it so I forgive a lot of potential problems。 I will admit I was probably distracted thinking about Shondaland Eloise vs。 Book Eloise。 Is this the same Marina we saw from season 1 of the show? If so, kinda brilliant。 The laugh out loud parts involve the rest of the Bridgerton's showing up and the banter-sibling fighting that ensues。 The scene where they practice shooting, and the scene when the brother's storm into Philip's dining room were delightful。Reading some o Uh, not perfect, but I enjoyed it so I forgive a lot of potential problems。 I will admit I was probably distracted thinking about Shondaland Eloise vs。 Book Eloise。 Is this the same Marina we saw from season 1 of the show? If so, kinda brilliant。 The laugh out loud parts involve the rest of the Bridgerton's showing up and the banter-sibling fighting that ensues。 The scene where they practice shooting, and the scene when the brother's storm into Philip's dining room were delightful。Reading some other reviews, people don't love (maybe hate) Philip。 I think Philip is a typical 2003 hero。 He's damaged and hurt, he has isolated himself from the world and his way of dealing with challenges is just to avoid them。 Philip had a shit childhood and the past 10 years are not at all what he thought his life would be。 I wish he had some character development that wasn't so dependent on Eloise。 The 'big fight' toward the end of the book is kind of unsatisfying because I still don't know if he understood why she was upset and how they were going to proceed forward。 And Eloise。 Shondaland Eloise is "not like other girls", she doesn't want to get married and wants to 。。。 have a career? I don't know。 But book Eloise is definitely like other girls, she wants to find love and get married。 And has very normal feelings of jealousy when her BFF gets married before her and suddenly feels the clock ticking。 If this book were published today, I don't think it would work。 Our standards for romance characters are higher。 But 2003 was different times。 Instead of global pandemic, we were recovering from 9/11。 Maybe we gave broken heroes more grace back them and allowed surface level growth to be enough。 。。。more

Okay where do I start。。。 I started reading this book in January but put it down due to school and reading a negative review but decided to pick it up again。 And LOVED IT。 While reading it I laughed out loud and cried of how cute the ending was。 I simply loved it。 Cannot wait to read the next book in the bridgerton series because each book is better than the last🥺😍❤️

Mha, no, purtroppo no。 Lo consiglio? Leggetevi: "Come conquistare un uomo" e "Il duca e io" se proprio volete leggere qualcosa dei Brigerton, gli altri proprio no。#TeamOdiamoAnthonyBrigerton 。。。more

The weakest book in the series, unfortunately。 Sir Philip didn’t really have much of a personality, and Eloise’s previous spunky ness seemed to have vanished completely

Bridgerton #5 - To Sir Phillip, With Love。 Eloise is may favourite character in the TV series, but she was very much different in the book。 Regardless, it was still a good read。 Not bad different, but I'm glad they went a bit more intense with her tv character。 Pretty standard for the Bridgerton series (not that I mind at all)。 Eloise writes to the husband of her distant (and now deceased) cousin, expressing her condolences。 It all started with a note。。。 Bridgerton #5 - To Sir Phillip, With Love。 Eloise is may favourite character in the TV series, but she was very much different in the book。 Regardless, it was still a good read。 Not bad different, but I'm glad they went a bit more intense with her tv character。 Pretty standard for the Bridgerton series (not that I mind at all)。 Eloise writes to the husband of her distant (and now deceased) cousin, expressing her condolences。 It all started with a note。。。 。。。more

Wow。 What else is there to say? When I began reading this book I was expecting something quite special for Eloise, because of the tv series mostly, and I was feeling kind of disappointed advancing with the pages because she’s not quite as the series pictured her。 In spite of this in the end I think I changed my mind, not because of the story that wasn’t anything so special in my opinion, although it’s a good story, but the words。 The words were everything。 There were some dialogues (especially in Wow。 What else is there to say? When I began reading this book I was expecting something quite special for Eloise, because of the tv series mostly, and I was feeling kind of disappointed advancing with the pages because she’s not quite as the series pictured her。 In spite of this in the end I think I changed my mind, not because of the story that wasn’t anything so special in my opinion, although it’s a good story, but the words。 The words were everything。 There were some dialogues (especially in the last 50 pages more or less) where the words were just right: the right ones, in the right place, at the right time。 I found myself almost excessively crying and I don’t really know why, but it was the words that really got me, I don’t know how else to describe it, so。。。 5 stars! 。。。more

Phillip was easily the best male protagonist protagonist of the series。 He seemed so aware of his temper and tried not to lose it。 He was also clearly traumatised and working through that。 It made him a far more sympathetic character。 This was my favourite book of the lot, probably because I also love Eloise。 Had a little cry at the end。I have to say that while I understand why this choice was made, as a person with severe mental illness, reading about what a “burden” Marina was to Phillip and h Phillip was easily the best male protagonist protagonist of the series。 He seemed so aware of his temper and tried not to lose it。 He was also clearly traumatised and working through that。 It made him a far more sympathetic character。 This was my favourite book of the lot, probably because I also love Eloise。 Had a little cry at the end。I have to say that while I understand why this choice was made, as a person with severe mental illness, reading about what a “burden” Marina was to Phillip and her children was rough。 There literally wasn’t a single line about how hard it must have been for Marina (who was perpetually “melancholy”, that is at least severely depressed) and the complete lack of empathy for her made those sections hard to read and were extremely insensitive for readers in my position。 。。。more

I really like Eloise, but I just didn’t like this one。 Sir Phillip is a little boring and I didn’t really buy their romance。 It felt a bit sudden, and as with all the bridgerton books it goes from 0-100 real fast。

This was more enjoyable to me than the previous entry into this series。I loved Eloise as a character and Philip had a bit more to him than just tall, dark and handsome。 I also enjoyed the addition of the children in this。 That changed up the formular a little bit and made for a more refreshing story。It lacked a bit in the swoon-worthiness for me, so it only gets 4 stars。 But all in all, I'm happy that I'm continuing with this series since it's a lot of fun to catch up with different Bridgertons This was more enjoyable to me than the previous entry into this series。I loved Eloise as a character and Philip had a bit more to him than just tall, dark and handsome。 I also enjoyed the addition of the children in this。 That changed up the formular a little bit and made for a more refreshing story。It lacked a bit in the swoon-worthiness for me, so it only gets 4 stars。 But all in all, I'm happy that I'm continuing with this series since it's a lot of fun to catch up with different Bridgertons at different times。 。。。more

There was a lot to like about this one - Eloise has been a favorite of mine from the series so far。 Parts of this one were a little overdone for me, but still, an enjoyable read。

Despite being a fan of Eloise in the previous books, her Bridgerton book ended up being so disappointing。 After exchanging letters with Sir Phillip for a year, Eloise decides to drop everything and run to him after he sends her a marriage proposal。 However when she gets there, he is not the gentle and charming man from her letters, but a grumpy and rude man, who also failed to mention he has children。 This was just, I hate to say it, boring。 Eloise is such a fun and lively character, I was expec Despite being a fan of Eloise in the previous books, her Bridgerton book ended up being so disappointing。 After exchanging letters with Sir Phillip for a year, Eloise decides to drop everything and run to him after he sends her a marriage proposal。 However when she gets there, he is not the gentle and charming man from her letters, but a grumpy and rude man, who also failed to mention he has children。 This was just, I hate to say it, boring。 Eloise is such a fun and lively character, I was expecting her book to match this, but boy was she let down。 Essentially Phillip asks her to marry him to be a mother to his children, because he is failing at being a good parent。 Maybe his reasons are good enough, but I am a bit on the fence。 To me, it just made him come across very selfish and irresponsible, and I felt like Eloise deserved someone more fun and lively。 It was also one of those cases where the romance made me feel uncomfortable, because the whole time I felt like Phillip didn’t need a wife but needed serious help。 Either way, regardless of all these complaints, I didn’t feel the chemistry or draw between the two, and found my mind wandering rather than wanting to see their romance blossom。 I think if you like the idea of this book but disliked the execution like me, you may like Tessa Dare’s book The Governess Game, which is pretty much the exact same plot, but done wonderfully。 The only thing I particularly liked about this were Eloise’s past letters at the beginning of chapters。 I found that a nice way to replace Lady Whistledown articles, and gave a little more character to Eloise。 Anyway, this was definitely not my favorite edition to this series, and I think I will soon forget I even read it。 。。。more

Not the strongest of the Bridgerton series, and it doesn’t hold the test of time with its handling of issues like mental illness。 Here’s hoping the Netflix series can boost and rewrite portions of this story。

1,5 I think, because。。 Nah。 My Eloise deserve better than this。
